Completely unexpected, 2020 became a year of lockdowns, measures and social distancing. Since the outbreak of the Corona virus, CakeSupplies has taken various measures to keep the business running safely. These enabled us to remain fully operable and to respond to the major peak of recent months.
Our warehouse colleagues have been working hard for months to replenish our stocks as quickly as possible and ship your orders within the deadline. Contrary to what we are used to, the summer remained busy and we started our high season from there at full speed. That probably hasn’t been any different in your business. To manage these high demands from the market and to be able to guarantee sufficient distance in our warehouse, we decided to work with an extra shift. We also extended our delivery time by one day.
For our office colleagues, working from home and online meetings became the norm. From various home offices our team worked hard to continue to carry out the usual activities and to respond as well and quickly as possible to relevant developments concerning the Corona crisis. Our Demand Planning team continuously got in contact with suppliers to resolve stock-outs and minimize them as much as possible. Our sales and customer service department maintained close contact with carriers on the one hand and customers on the other. Clear communication about Corona measures and their consequences for your companies were leading in this. This was done in close collaboration with our marketing team, who took care of this communication via the website and newsletters and at the same time ensured that the webshop and our assortment continued to develop as you are used to from us.
Where one day required rapid adjustments as a result of new developments, the next day it was business as usual again. And although we as a team look back satisfied by the way we have tackled this year, we hope that 2021 will be more of the latter. More business as usual again.
